She spends her time researching comparative mythology, medieval history, and other subjects mostly irrelevant to twenty-first century life. Dr. Philip Edward Kaldon teaches Physics at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo by day, while aspiring to write the Great Science Fiction Romantic Epic in the wee hours of the night. In 2008 his SF story A Man in the Moon appeared in Writers of the Future Vol. XXIV and he has stories coming out in Analog and Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine. Dr. Phil attended the 2004 Clarion Workshop with Blind Eye Books editor Nikki Kimberling and also the August 2008 Writers of the Future workshop and event with Jemma EveryHope, who helped edit this story.
He turns fifty this year and met his wife Debbie in the Science and Engineering Library at Northwestern University - they've been married for just about a quarter century, which does not impress their three cats.

Erin MacKay was born in Mobile, Alabama and raised all over the southeastern United States. She lives in Atlanta with her husband and two dogs. Her interests include history, linguistics, gourmet beer, football, and anime, not necessarily in that order.

Gene Mederos was born in Havana, Cuba and emigrated to the United States with his parents and sister at the age of two. Raised in Brooklyn and later moved with the family to Miami, where he graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1987.
While earning a living at numerous day jobs, most notably a seven year run at the ASPCA in Manhatten where he oftened appeared on television to get homeless dogs and cats new homes, Gene has pursued his artistic career. Gene has designed sets and costumes for numerous plays in Miami, New York City, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. He has exhibited and sold his art in NYC, Santa Fe and Tampa.
